Just as Apple sets the bar for MP3-playability to go with the iPod Mini, Archos walks in and raises that bar with the Archos Gmini 220.
This little technological titan does everything the fruit flavoured player does, is likewise PC and Mac compatible (more easily so, actually), holds the same amount of music files (i.e. thousands, both WMA and MP3) and runs 10 hours straight on its rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. But the Gmini 220 will also directly record any line-in source (tape, CD, vinyl, etc) as well as live audio (such as Metallica concerts, much to those avid anti-bootlegger's chagrin).
Too, it acts as a massive portable hard drive for all digital files and comes with a 2.5 inch, greyscale LCD navigation screen which will also display uploaded pictures like a portable wallet.
Had it a color LCD screen, it'd be perfect... except more expensive, so maybe not.
