ATI Remote Wonder

ATI Remote Wonder

Computer graphics card maker ATI is dabbling in the gadget game with a handful of devices, one of which is a remote control for your computer.

The Remote Wonder is not for everyone, but for those that like to watch TV or DVDs on a laptop or desktop Windows computer, it's a handy device. I don't watch TV on my laptop, but I do watch DVDs. The Remote Wonder is very handy for this. I crash out on my bed and watch movies and use the remote to control the device at arms length--starting, pausing and stopping the DVD. The gizmo has a series programmable buttons for quick access to computer functions--like flipping between windows and the like and you can even move the mouse cursor around and left and right click with it. The Remote Wonder communicates wirelessly with the computer through a USB port dongle. This device plugs into the port and an antenna on the end of a little box receives the signals from the remote. This is a bit messy, as on a laptop there's no need for all that cable but I suppose if you used it with a desktop computer and wanted to run the antenna up onto the desk it would be handy. The device is easy to install and quick to learn. If you need it, it's one of those gadgets you'll come to love.
