The patio season is upon us (in spite of occasional evidence to the contrary, depending on where you live; there's still snow in parts of Alberta...); the time for backyard barbeques, pool parties, staff soirées in the office courtyard and Jimmy Buffet playing at all of them.
Now for those who can’t stand the music blaring inside just so it can be heard outside, consider the Advent Wireless AW870 Speaker System. The bundle comes with a 900MHz transmitter that jacks into the audio line-out or headphones outlet on any sound source, be it office computer, home stereo or portable MP3 player.
The two speakers each come with a simpatico receiver and their own 15w amplifier and will each run on either--yikes!--8 C cell batteries (not included) or--phew!--AC adapters (included). This means you can plug one into the outlet by the garden shed and another in the neighbor’s carport. Their range is some 100meters (block party anyone?) and their sound quality is surprisingly great.
In a business setting, the AW870 Speaker System is also an ideal PA companion; presentation speakers for those cheap seats at the back of hall. Back at home but not in patio-season, they’re a great solution for a surround sound home theatres' rear channel audio: after all, they require no wires snaking along the floorboards and in behind the sofa.
