Digital cameras are, at this point, a chip with a lens, so they can be built into almost anything. That includes a credit card sized case.
The Creative Cardcam is just that.
It's small enough to fit into a spacious wallet. In fact, more accurately, it's the size of those nice brushed metal business card holders. A little lens pops out of it when powered on. Plus it snaps pictures to a resolution of 1.3 megapixels, which is not really enough to print out a nice snapshot, but gives you a large image on your computer screen for viewing or e-mailing.
The image is a little fuzzy as it uses some techno guesswork to create a larger sized image that it has data for (geek alert: that's 1280 x 960 pixel images interpolated from 640 x 480 pixel images).
But never mind that, for a camera that is truly pocket-sized and is "save up your pennies" affordable, the Cardcam is a little miracle. It has a built in memory that captures either 26 or 101 images depending on the image quality setting.
The camera connects to a Windows-based PC via a USB connector, common on all computers since 1998. If you've been hankering to try a digital camera and want a gee whiz gadget to dazzle your grandma, then the Creative Cardcam is for you.
