A tantalizing, future-minded computer upgrade, that might be a little too new and therefore too pricey at the moment: HP's DVD100i, a CD and DVD ROM reader and writer that allows you to create DVDs, just like Apple's latest G4 Macintoshes and their "power to burn."
The Digital Versatile Disc format, of course, allows for storage of up to 4.7GB of digital information - up to 7 times more than a CD. And While DVD is more commonly associated with digital movies; the DVD100i is a mass storage solution for photos, audio files, back-ups, data archives, etc. The software bundled in with the DVD100i makes all such thing a snap. Blank, recordable DVDs currently run about $15 - $20 a pop.
