Want to know how far you have come with your own two feet? We're talking exercise here, not career-wise.
It's handy to get a sense of how many steps you take, whether you're on a hike up a mountain or just walking around the neighborhood. Oregon Scientific's Pedometer with FM Radio (model PE316FM) can both calculate the distance traveled as well as the number of steps taken. You simply calibrate it to your gait, hook it onto your body and you're out the door.
Built into it is an FM radio, which in the MP3 digital audio universe seems a little antique for such a high-tech gadget, but maybe that's fine by you. The device has a clamshell design so the readout can only be seen if you pull it off your body and open it, which seems a little inconvenient. It comes with ear buds and is a nice yellow and black color.
