For the office orientated phone fanatic, VTech has quite the little super system in their VT 5881 Expandable Cordless Phone System. This bundle comes with a base unit that acts as a call center/answer machine, speakerphone as well as the recharge cradle for an included cordless phone. It operates in the dazzling digital spectrum of 5.8 GHz (actually, the system employs a unique 5.8GHz/2.4GHz dual-band frequency hopping technology, but let's not get too geek).
The handset itself is host to all the telephonic features you could hope for, including dual call display, a vibrating ringer option, conference calling and its own built-in speakerphone that lets you set it down for hands-free conversations wherever you happen to be. The package is also expandable and will accommodate up to five more cordless phones--sold separately as model VT 5820 for US$99.95 orCA$149.95--, each coming with their own recharge cradle but otherwise using the single landline of the original base station and requiring no wall jack of their own.
